Our Daily Routine

The preschool day is 8:45-2:45pm, we also divide the day into two sessions, morning sessions are from 8:45-11:45 and afternoon sessions are from 11:45-2:45pm.

We encourage children’s independence with a self-registration activity on arrival, children do this by finding their mini-me and placing it onto our registration board.

There are a range of daily activities set out for the children to do in Jellyfish and we support children’s learning through their play experiences. We call this ‘Discovery Time’. Adults are on hand during Discovery Time to facilitate children’s learning through exploration and conversation, ensuring children are always working towards meeting their next steps in an engaging and enjoyable way.

We also have daily focus sessions, which we call ‘Busy Bee Time’. During these sessions, we practise our phonics and mathematical skills, following Super Sonic Phonic Friends and White Rose Maths. We also take part in large and fine motor activities such as Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle and Dough Disco. We also have carpet sessions daily where your child will be encouraged to sit nicely and listen to the teacher as well as listen to each other. During these carpet sessions, we practise skills such as counting, story-telling and mark-making.

We end each day with a group story and by singing some of the 12 songs to know, which are a variety of nursery rhymes. We sing many times a day in preschool to encourage children’s early literacy and communication.
