Phonics at Jewell Academy

At Jewell Academy we teach children to read using Super Sonic Phonics Friends. Children in Reception learn Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds.

How can I help my child to read at home?

1. Watch the videos together, can your child say the sounds?
2. Phonics Newsletters will be sent home weekly to inform you of the sounds that your child has learnt this week. Please look at these together and encourage your child to say the sounds they can see and read the words they have learnt at school.
3. Read daily with your child. We will send a book home that is matched carefully to the sounds that your child has learnt. Encourage them to do this independently.
